Weekend / Early Week In Review

I have been running around like a mad person since Friday.  With work, church and family happenings I haven't had time to update since last week.  Let's run through the weekend/early week in review shall we?

     Saturday:
JoJo, McKenzie and Eagan had photos taken at the Botanical Gardens with Sarah Pharris. It was a pleasant experience for a change. Everyone cooperated and we even made it through an entire lunch at Cracker Barrel with no melt downs.  JoJo was super pumped to see a tow truck tow away a car outside the window while we ate and described it all with great accuracy when we got to Nana's house.  Sarah already posted the web gallery for the photos; you can see them at http://sarahpharrisphotography.zenfolio.com/p1007015168 if you are interested.  They are super cute and I am so glad to have Eagan's 4th month documented.

Sunday:
We stayed home from Sunday School and morning worship services to go to Brad's grandparent's house for lunch.  Papaw Woodard's birthday is this week.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPAW! We were so glad to get to spend another special day with him and help him celebrate.  After birthday lunch, we attended our church's final Awesome August evening worship service.  Brother Gary Fink brought the message, but I missed it since I ended up rocking babies in the nursery.  We had several little ones and my wee one was particularly fussy so I just stayed to help out.

Monday:
Eagan didn't sleep much Sunday night.  Monday was pretty busy and I was definitely dragging.  I did some running around for work then picked up the kiddos at GiGi and PaPa's house.  Nothing eventful, really.

Tuesday:
Thank goodness, we got a little more sleep.  I had a meeting in the morning and followed that up with phone calls and a school visit.  When I arrived at GiGi's house to get the kids, Kenzie was outside playing in the sprinkler in her underoos.  Eagan was sitting quietly on the sidelines enjoying the show while Kenzie pranced around through the water.  We got ourselves ready to go do my weekly Winn Dixie shopping trip and the cutest thing happened as we got in the car. Papa carried McKenzie to her seat and was getting her buckled in when she said to him, "Thank you for taking my nap, for going to sleep with me today... I Love You." So precious I could almost die.  That little girl has her PaPa wrapped around her little finger and she loves him just as much.  After Winn Dixie we picked up Captain D's for dinner (there were coupons available, what can I say) and Kenzie ate "puppies" (hushpuppies) for dinner. I think that it would be considered animal cruely to let her chew on our malti-poo.

That brings me to today.  I have lots to keep me busy with work and I got quite a chuckle out of McKenzie this morning.  She was cuddling with Eagan on the bed while we got ready to go and he stuck his finger in her mouth (he's in a stage where he likes to touch your face for some reason).  I told her not to let him do that and she pulled his finger out while explaining to him that if he put his finger in her mouth he would get 'real bad hurt' and go to live with Jesus forever and he would never come back.  Let me clarify this by saying that I have explained death to her this way since she started sprawling out in my living room floor with her dolls proclaiming that they were all dead. It looked a little too much like Heaven's Gate revisited and it creeped me out, so I tried to help her understand.  Good idea? Maybe not, but too little too late.

JoJo will be 5 soon, so it looks a dreaded trip to the story store is on the agenda for the end of the week.  I'm just not sure what you buy a kid that has everything.

Bouncers and Bleeds...

I ran to Wal-Mart yesterday after work to pick up diapers for Eagan and while I was there I decided that I should go ahead and get him a bouncer.  He has an activity center at GiGi and Papa's house and has a blast playing in it a couple of times a day.  We got the Bright Starts Bounce-A-Bout simply because the reviews that I had read were good and I honestly thought, "If I were a baby, this would definitely be my kind of toy."  Got that booger home and had it pretty well put together before church, but finished a few last minute things (ie, stuff I had assembled incorrectly that Brad had to take apart and put back together) when we got home.  When we put Eagan in it, his eyes got soooo big.  He started smiling and giggling and went to work figuring out how to play with each toy.  No doubt, it was a success.  McKenzie pulled up a chair and they spent a good 20 minutes playing together before she went to bed.

Let me tell you, that boy loves his big sister. He was full on belly laughing at her last night and couldn't seem to stop.  I love to watch the two of them together... when McKenzie isn't trying to squash him or choke him to death that is.  I hope they grow up loving on each other and enjoying one another's company.

This morning, Kenzie ran into our bedroom yelling that she had a bleed.  The poor kid had blood on her hands and shirt and I instantly thought that she had cut herself getting out of bed.  Not so.  God bless her, she got a nose bleed as soon as her little feet his the floor this morning.  When we managed to get it to stop, she looked at me with very concerned eyes and said, "It got on the floor mama."  How many 3 year olds would ever be concerned that they got something in the carpet?  She helped me get the Resolve and clean up the mess before we left for work. Looks like she will have to limit her outside play time today just to be safe.  Unfortunately for her, Joseph had nose bleeds throughout his childhood.  He has pretty much outgrown them as an adult though. This is likely going to be a continual issue.

I also wanted to go ahead and put Eagan's 4 month stats on here just so I don't forget:
On August 15, 2011 he weighed 21 lbs 2 oz, was 26.5 inches long, and had a head circumference of 13 inches.  The doctor recommended that we continue trying to space his feedings and start giving him a couple tablespoons of baby cereal each morning and each night to try to cut back his milk consumption.  The big guy is off the growth charts for 4 months.  Our doctor reiterates to me each time we see him that Eagan is the biggest breastfed baby that he has ever seen.  At least he won't forget him I guess!

4 month photos are scheduled with Sarah Pharris this Saturday.  I am hoping to get some good ones of JoJo and McKenzie with him as well!

Let's Begin Again...

I started this blog when I was just about 3 months pregnant with sweet little Eagan. I had the best of intentions... I wanted to document my pregnancy and his birth for family and friends to see and enjoy.  OK, it didn't happen as planned. I made one post and gave up before we ever even officially announced that we were pregnant.

Well, I'm back.  Eagan is here and perfect and McKenzie is growing like a weed. To be honest I am afraid that I am going to forget what it was like to have an infant and a busy little girl.  I want to start documenting things from day to day because they change so quickly and learn so much so fast.  McKenzie says the darnedest things sometimes and I want to be able to share those cute little statements with her down the road.

So here we are beginning again.  I think this will be quite a journey.

The Beginnings...

This blog has been created as a way for our friends and family to follow us through the pregnancy and birth of our first child.  As many of you know, big sister McKenzie is expecting a little brother or sister to be born some time in March of 2011.  The three of us are thrilled and since it took us so long to get to this point (that story is whole other post) we are excited to share this journey with all of the people that we love.  Check back often and watch as our family prepares to welcome the newest addition!
